State-of-the-art SCADA system for hydropower plants providing all functions for operation, supervision, and control — scalable from turbine controller level to large central control rooms.

HIPASE-250 is ANDRITZ's dedicated SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for hydropower plants, providing a complete, integrated platform for the operation, monitoring, and control of the entire hydropower generation process. Designed to complement the HIPASE device platform, HIPASE-250 delivers a multi-hierarchical automation architecture that scales from individual turbine controllers and unit control applications to large, multi-plant central control rooms — all within a single, unified system.

The system supports a wide range of hardware deployment configurations including touch-enabled devices, single and redundant PC systems, dedicated distributed server architectures, and thin client and mobile device access via remote desktop — providing the flexibility to match any plant scale and operational model. Hot standby configurations and geographic redundancy options ensure high availability for critical generation assets, with additional emergency and testing systems available for enhanced resilience.

HIPASE-250's human-machine interface follows recognized industrial design standards including IEC 63303, IEC 62682, and ISA 101, with specialized hydropower visualizations including generator diagrams, turbine flow representations, and turbine CAM diagrams that give operators immediate process insight. Cybersecurity is embedded throughout the system architecture, with TLS encryption across all communication protocols, CIS Level 2 system hardening, secure kiosk mode, role-based access controls, single sign-on, and two-factor authentication via smartcard. Support for both Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux provides operating system flexibility and enhanced security through platform diversification.
