Understanding the future behaviour and status of components, especially aging, allows novel production optimization concepts with constrains and objectives, that can both differ from one site to another. This can apply to hydropower power plants with multiple units, a cascade or even a fleet. Our experience shows that there are always some gains to obtain with minimal modifications of the control system via its set-points.
